  • One of the best written books that I have read in a long time Follow Lia, her sister Rachel, Moses and his grandparents, Anna and Felty This book gave me a full range of emotions from anger, to happiness, to sadness and shock At times I wanted to smack the characters, or shake them to there senses This book is for all who think they are not worthy of someones love because they are different There is always someone who loves your difference.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Felta, Anna, Moses, and Lia This was a charming story with irresistible 80 something year old matchmakers I read this book series out of order, reading Huckleberry Spring first, and I was so charmed by it I went and put HUCKLEBERRY HILL and Huckleberry Christmas on my list of books to check out from paperbackswap and I loved this one, HUCKLEBERRY HILL just as much as I did Huckleberry Spring Ms Beckstrand is a very creative writer, and I loved some of the hum [...]

  • Anna Helmuth is an elderly Amish woman with a penchant for matchmaking She tells her patient husband, Felty, that they need to do something to help their poor grandson, Moses, to find a wife So Anna decides that she needs an assistant after all, she s getting too old to do all the housework, and she has heard good things about Lia Shelter.Lia is twenty four years old, too tall, and has a scarred hand In her parents eyes, that makes her unmarriageable Never mind that she can make the best pies in [...]

  • Huckleberry Hill by Jennifer Beckstrand Kensington Publishing is as appealing as the delicious pies described within its pages Huckleberry Hill is located in remote Bonduel, Wisconsin That is where twenty six year old Moses Zimmerman s delightful and loving grandparents, Felty and Anna Helmuth live on a farm Moses is tall, handsome, kind, and owns his own cheese making operation, yet he is still single He s been waiting three years for his old Amish girlfriend to return from jumping the fence to [...]

  • MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOKLia Shelter thinks she is helping to secure a husband for her sister, but the she spends time with Moses Zimmerman, the attracted they are to each other And Moses grandparents are on their matchmaking trend to find a wife for him But which sister will it be, Rachel or Lia I just love Moses grandparents Anna and Felty Helmuth and their matchmaking They are so adorable, with Anna trying her new recipes and Felty singing and checking out license plates to find all of the s [...]

  • Not a fan of Huckleberry HillAmateur writing, shallow underdeveloped characters, main characters wallowing in an annoying and entirely unnecessary amount of self pity, OBVIOUS and predictable plot which is fine, but the attempted twists in the plot didn t make the story line any interesting or less obvious The romance and connection between the two main characters unfortunately was not strong enough to hold my attention and ignore these glaring issues instead it leaves me to wonder why there we [...]

  • Good story, and lots to hold the attention besides the romance however, Lia was much too perfect and Rachel was much too flawed It got a bit ridiculous actually I may read the second, but I sincerely hope the talented author makes her characters real I ve never met anyone as perfect as Lia and I wished she would screw up once, just to show how REAL she is I appreciate the cultural differences with the English, but felt the joke about Delaware being empty of Amish was just plain wrong There are [...]

  • Enjoyed this book, even though I wanted to choke Rachel most of the time ha ha Jennifer Beckstrand is a new author to me and I am really enjoying her books and look forward to book 2 in this series.

  • Cute love storyWhat a cute story about grma grpa Felty and Anna Helmuth finding it necessary to help their grandchildren find their spouses It is so cute how they know who is best for their grandson Moses, he just needs to figure that out He is rebounding from his love leaving their Amish community and he is trying to remain true to her until she returns But grma brings Lia to their community to help her with home chores which coincides with her grandson s schedule as he helps his grandparents o [...]

  • A nice romantic story set in the Amish community It is nice to see their ways and the grandparents are a hoot I enjoyed the banter between the characters The main characters are Moses, Leah and her little sister Rachel I liked that the author mixed up the biblical sisters situations in this story.

  • I was a little skeptical about this book in the beginning, but I quite enjoyed it It is the first in the series and I am excited about reading of the series.

  • This is the first book in the series and I loved it You can t help but love Annie and Felty Can t wait to read the next one in the series.

  • I loved it This amazing story is at times poignant, and at other times, funny Very funny It also reminded me of a story from Scripture with a couple interesting twists, and was rich with spiritual lessons that a wise woman heard, and a less than wise woman heard and each of them received well, you ll see.Anna and Felty lived at the top of Huckleberry Hill, so named for the hardy, thriving huckleberry bushes with an overabundance of tasty huckleberries They had so far been blessed with over 60 ye [...]

  • Jennifer s Beckstrand s Huckleberry Hill is a witty, sweet and heartwarming romance In this delightful first installment of The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series, Moses Zimmerman s matchmaking grandparents scheme to set him up with Lia Shetler but this bachelor is determined to stay single Although he has successfully evaded their efforts in the past, Moses finds Lia pretty difficult to resist When Lia s dat decides her sister Rachel is the woman for Moses, which, if any, of the Shetler sis [...]

  • I loved this book No, that s not right I fell in love with this book to the point that when it ended, I went back and reread some chapters, a few scenes, and sighted and laughed all over again The author has given us a funny romantic story that is never overdone The laughs flow naturally from the story and the characters personalities and interactions Nothing is exaggerated for the purpose of being funny it is a nice Amish equivalent to a romantic comedy. Each character is wonderfully developed, [...]

  • I enjoy a lot of different genres when I read Sometimes I read the same genre for awhile and then need to switch to something else, but I will always have a place in my heart for Amish fiction So when I got the chance to review Huckleberry Hill by Jennifer Beckstrand, I was looking forward to reading it.Huckleberry Hill is the first book in The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series After doing some checking, I found that book two is called Huckleberry Summer, and the third one is a holiday book [...]

  • Moses is miserable, absolutely miserable We must find him a wife You mean Moses, our grandson He doesn t seem miserable to me He won t know how miserable he is until he meets the right girl After the first sentence, I was laughing and I didn t stop laughing, for the most part, until I finished the book I told my daughter she just had to read this book she did and she loved it as much as I did And thus began a love affair with the Huckleberry Hill series I actually took a vacation day from work, [...]

  • My fianc s family lives in Ohio, and on our last visit there I had the pleasure of being introduced to the Amish community I found it to be a fascinating group of people and beliefs I visited their stores, met some of them, and bought so many of their fabulous homemade goodies Ever since that time I have been trying to read Amish fiction I was so glad when I stumbled across this new series, The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill, and I knew after reading several reviews that I would probably love [...]

  • Huckleberry Hill is the story of a young man who believes he must stay true to a love he hasn t seen for than three years and a woman who believes she will never marry because of her physical characteristics Fortunately for readers, they will both be proven wrong in the new Amish series The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill by Jennifer Beckstrand.Although the book gets off to a slow start and rival sisters by the names of Lia and Rachel seem a bit much, the story soon draws the reader into the li [...]
